The economy may be in the dumps, but poker and gambling is still going strong around here. Two new native american casinos are either opening or cleared for launch and another could be built just around the corner in the not too distant future.
Charity poker is what's really hot, though. It looks like another charity poker room (fixed location, rotating charities) has opened up just a few miles away near the local mall. This is more convenient than the two existing ones, which are 20-30 minutes plus in the car. A fourth room, closer yet, may or may not ever happen. I think they have held at least a couple events, but I haven't seen much in the way of publicity. I may be tempted to go give the new room a try - less of a drive in the winter is a good thing.
I have to wonder how long this will go on, though. Charities are limited to hosting only a couple hold'em events a year, which means that the charity room organizers have to line up quite a few charities to rotate in. How many charities can there be? Enough to support 3 (or 4?) poker rooms?
